National Interclub Homebrew Championship

This prestigious competition brings together homebrew clubs from across the country to compete for the title of the best homebrew club. Each club submits a club brew of a particular style. The style for Fools&Fans 8 (2025) is the BJCP Style 11B: Best Bitter. This then gets judged by a panel of expert judges at the festival.

The competition encourages collaboration and showcases the collective talent within the homebrewing community. The winning club earns the esteemed title of National Interclub Homebrew Champion, along with bragging rights and a trophy that can be proudly displayed at their club.

National Homebrewers Individual Competition

This competition is designed for individual homebrewers who want to showcase their brewing skills. Participants enter their best beers, which are judged by a panel of experienced brewers, BJCP judges and industry professionals. Each entry is evaluated on factors like taste, aroma, and overall quality. The top brewers are recognized for their craftsmanship, with the winner receiving a cash prize, a trophy, and the opportunity to have their beer featured at select local breweries.

Best Rookie

The Best Rookie competition is aimed at encouraging new homebrewers who are entering the festival for the first time. It forms part of the Individual Competition, so if you have fewer than two years homebrew experience, you automatically qualify.

This sub-competition provides a platform for emerging talent to shine and gain recognition within the homebrewing community.

Fools & Fans 7 – 2024:  People’s Choice Winner

The People’s Choice competition gives festival attendees the power to vote for their favourite beer. Every participant at the festival can sample the entries and cast their vote for the brew they believe stands out as their favourite of the beers on show. The beer with the most votes wins the People’s Choice Award. This competition is a fun way for brewers to connect with the public, and the winner earns a special prize, along with the recognition of being the crowd favourite.

Requirements :

All entries must be presented in 4 x 440ml brown craft bottles.

Each bottle must have a self-adhesive address label (75mmx38mm), with your entry number (top left) and BJCP style and sub style category number (top right) in Black permanent marker.

In the case of fruit beers, ciders etc, specialty ingredients may be listed on label. (See Photos)

Entry number should be repeated on the crown cap.
The 4 bottles should be bound together (elastic or similar easy to separate material. NO adhesive tape.) and should have 1 x removable A4 Bottle I.D. form attached.
 

NATIONAL INDIVIDUAL HOMEBREW COMPETITION

  • Step 1. Enter Beer online and provide info required and submit.
  • Step 2. Receive email with unique reference code.
  • Step 3. Do payment online using unique reference code as reference.
  • Step 4. Receive email with entry number and pre-filled Bottle Identification Sheet
